Vineyards

We source grapes from our family's vineyard and other small, family owned vineyards in Northern California. Learn more about our vineyard sources below.

Yates Vineyard

The Yates Vineyard is located between 1000-2000 feet in the southern Mayacamas mountains. Spanning 34 acres of vineyards surrounded by Redwood forest, our family has been stewarding this ranch since 1950. Originally planted in the 1880s and named Castlerock Vineyard, the ranch was mostly replanted to Bordeaux varieties and Viognier in the 1990s by our Uncle Michael Yates. We sourced Malbec and Syrah from our ranch to show two of our favorite varietals from our favorite place in the world. The north facing steep slopes and relative lack of fog create an extended growing season, which results in wines of deep intensity, complexity, and character.

AVA: Mt. Veeder
Soils: Rocky Loam, Well draining. Volcanic origin
Wines: 2022 Malbec, 2022 & 2023 Syrah

Landa Vineyard

The Landa Vineyard is located just east of the town of Sonoma, at the base of the Mayacamas mountain range. Several Rhone varieties are grown here, and the Syrah and Mataro are grown on the steepest slopes overlooking town. This cooler area of the Sonoma Valley is adjacent to Carneros and is strongly influenced by the San Pablo Bay. Cool, foggy nights, and warm days with afternoon sun provide conditions that ripen the fruit slowly and evenly.

AVA: Sonoma Valley
Soils: clay loam, well draining
Wines: 2022 Rosé of Mataro, 2022 Syrah+Mataro

Spanish Creek Vineyard

The Spanish Creek Vineyard is the location of our highest elevation fruit. At 2800 feet in the Fair Play AVA in El Dorado County, the Spanish Creek Vineyard primarily has Chardonnay, Mataro, and Zinfandel. These own-rooted vines are surrounded by mixed conifer forest and planted in granitic soils. The more intense sun exposure, wet winters, and granite soils create wines of intensity and minerality.

AVA: Sierra Foothills/El Dorado County
Soils: Granite based, clay loam, well draining
Wines: 2023 Rosé of Mataro

Bensen Vineyard

The Bensen Vineyard is a 3 acre, family-owned vineyard in Rutherford. These 18 year old vines overlook a seasonal stream, tucked close to the base of the western mountains of the valley. The rich alluvium deposited by the stream allows for vigorous growing conditions which help withstand the summer heat of the valley.

AVA: Rutherford, Napa Valley
Soils: Deep alluvial clay loam
Wines: 2025 Sauvignon Blanc
